On August 18, 2026, Chinese media outlet Guancha.cn reported that regarding the issue of a Chinese mainland media professional claiming to be a "visiting professor" at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the university completely denied it, stating "there is no record or relationship of employment," and hinted at pursuing legal action. According to the article, the university issued a statement on its official website on the 13th, explaining that there is no record of employment as staff for Chinese mainland media professional Zhang Long (Jang Rong), and absolutely no employment, education, partnership, or other relationships exist. Furthermore, the university stated that any publicity, collaborations, or other activities conducted by him under the name of "visiting professor" or similar are entirely unrelated to the university, and it reserves the right to pursue legal action against actions that illegally use the university's name to make false statements or damage the university's reputation. According to reports, Zhang is a person who serves as the editor-in-chief of "Western News Network" in mainland China and the executive director of Shaanxi Longchuang Cultural Media. He participated in various cultural events with titles such as "cultural scholar," "calligrapher," and "visiting professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong," and the title of visiting professor was even listed in Baidu Encyclopedia (Baidu Baike), China's major search engine's encyclopedia, indicating that he had been fraudulently using the title for about three years.
